I think that we are so focused on the concept of crime and punishment that we forget that sin injures the sinner and the covering provided by God is not provided to hide our sin from him but it is a salve to our own conscience - to cover our own nakedness.

The lie of the serpent deceitfully accuses God of ulterior motive, lack of love and natural self-centredness and the truth to counter that lie is revealed in the life and death of Jesus.

Knowing that God truly loves us is entirely liberating and draws us deeper into our relationship with him.
John John Davyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15002909954724709043noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14355716.post-76219767910369447262009-04-15T07:25:00.000+10:002009-04-15T07:25:00.000+10:00Hi Steve
How come your blogs always make so much ...Hi Steve

How come your blogs always make so much sense?

For a long time I have struggled with the concept of a Loving Father sacrificing His Only Beloved Son in order to settle Him down, ie. cause Him to be 'not angry' with sin.

Could it be because we Christians have been so hung up on defining "The Truth" as our own peculiar creed? - (the one that we use to draw a line of demarcation between us and all those "others" who say they believe, but because they don't believe what we believe, must be in gross error.

Because we Christians see "The Truth" as a creed or set of propositional beliefs, we have failed to appreciate that "The Truth" that sets us Free is the very Love of God for all of us... as demonstrated in the life of His Beloved Son.

To me it is so simple.

Christ died because wicked men slew Him.

He rose again because a Loving God could not allow the "power of an endless life" to lie in the grave.

Rather than being a sacrifice (either for, or instead of us) - Christ is TRIUMPHANT because of the Father who dwelt in (indwelt) in Him.

So if we have Christ indwelling in us, then the same loving Father will not allow the same "endless life" to languish in the grave or oblivion for ever... and He will raise us up TRIUMPHANT to share in the TRIUMPH of His Son.

Does that make sense?

Thank God for the TRIUMPHANT Son...

CliffCliff Yorkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06629155487095195768noreply@blogger.com
